Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Our father, Joseph I. Cox, Jr., held tight to the hand of Jesus as he left this world to pass to his eternal resting place at 12:25 p.m. on November 23, 2010 at teh age of 85. He was a native of Crosby, Mississippi, and a resident of Lake Rosemound in St. Francisville. He retired from the US Air Force as a Master Sergeant. Visiting will be at Faith Baptist Church, 15880 Plank Road, Baker, on Friday, November 26, 2010 from 5pm to 9pm. Eastern Star services at 6:30pm with Masonic services immediately following. Visiting will resume at Faith Baptist Church on Saturday, November 27, 2010 from 9am until religious services at 10am, conducted by Dr. Tom Simmons. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker, Louisiana. Survived by one son and daughterinlaw, Charles and Carolyn Cox three daughters and soninlaws, Lynn and Roy Bankston, Jodi and Billy Benton, and Vickie and Garry Schenk ten grandchildren nine great grandchildren two greatgreat granchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Billie Passman Cox parents, Joseph I. Cox, Sr. and Effie Graham Cox and siblings, Maxine Amy, Elma Bond, Wilton Cox, Willis Cox, Melvin Cox, and Shelton Cox. Pallbearers will be Billy Bankston, James Bankston, Joseph Bankston, Hunter Benton, Andrew Sanchez, and Austin Sanchez. Honorary pallbearer will be Specialist Matthew Benton. J.I. was a member of Spring Creek Masonic Lodge 184, Star of Baker Chapter 234 and St. Albans Chapter 80, Order of the Eastern Star, Baton Rouge Scottish Right, Feliciana Chapter 11 RAM, and the Acacia Shrine in Baton Rouge. He was a Fidelity Medal Recipient of Spring Creek Lodge, Past Patron five times at Star of Baker, and Past Grand Officer in 20072008. He served on the Louisiana Order of Rainbow for Girls State Executive Committee and Advisory Board for Baker Assembly 83 for many years. The family extends a very special thanks to Ruby, Chris, Laura and Emily with hospice for their care, support and guidance through this difficult time.
