Joseph Babin, Jr.

Joseph A. Babin, Jr., 90 years old, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to so many was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 9, 2018. He entered this world on March 8, 1928, in Port Allen, La. He was a proud member of the United States Army. He was the kind of person that would serve and help people in a time of need. He was a volunteer marshal for BREC, retired from the Local 198 Pipefitters Union, and was known for his handy skills and could fix anything. He was a proud member of the Rat Pack, a golfing group of friends that enjoyed the game in Baker. He was a hard worker and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.


Joseph is survived by his sons and daughters in-law, Michael and Linda Babin of St. Francisville, Stephen and Dottie Babin of Greenwell Springs, and Timothy and Angela Babin of Zachary; 5 grandchildren, Emily Babin Phantz, Aaron Babin, Brittany Landry, Daniel Babin, and Seth Babin; brothers, Harold and Roy Babin; sisters, Rita Babin, Mary Oubre, Edna Gassie, Ruth Stanley, Catherine White, and Carol Quatronne; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Joseph is preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Ruth Haynes Babin; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Babin, Sr.; 2 brothers, Gerald and Ronald Babin; sister, Verna Tullier; and grandsons, Michael and Chad Babin.


Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 5657 Thomas Rd, Baton Rouge, La., on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, from 9:00 a.m.until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Father Frank Bass will officiate the service. The graveside service and burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker.
