A resident of Slaughter, he passed away at his camp in Leeville on Sunday, April 21, 2013. He was 44, a welder by trade, and a native of Baker. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 59pm, and on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 9am until religious services in the chapel at 11am, conducted by Rev. Ron Lowery. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by longtime girlfriend, Stephanie Anderson of Slaughter three stepchildren, Tiffany, Amy, and Wendell Anderson grandson, Lane Carter, all of Slaughter two sisters and brothersinlaw, Jill Johnston Wilkerson and Dr. Bruce Wilkerson of Baton Rouge, and Jane Johnston Moore and Robert Moore of Zachary maternal grandmother, Dorothy Harper and a niece and nephew, Lindsey and Jude Wilkerson. He was preceded in death by his father, James Wallace Johnston mother, Anita Davis Johnston Fletcher maternal grandfather, V.P. Dub Davis and paternal grandparents, Wallace and Ellye Fair Johnston. Pallbearers are Ben Sullivan, Michael E. Lee, George Cupit, Pat Eppinett, Gordon Woolfolk, and Daniel Ory. John attended Baker High School, and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
