John Charles Bauer

John passed from this life peacefully on September 5, 2014 at Ochsners Promise Hospital after a courageous ongoing battle with multiple scleroses. John was a native of Baker, LA and had recently returned to Baker after 26 years in New Mexico as a teacher and football coach on the Navajo Reservation in Crownpoint, N.M. John was a loving husband and father who always put the welfare of his children before all else. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time camping, fishing and hunting with his family and friends. He left a lasting impression with his shinning personality, everlasting courage and profound wisdom on everyone who entered his life.

John is preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend, Beverly Yglesias Bauer his father, Harry Joseph Bauer, Sr. brother, Harry Joseph Joey Bauer, Jr. and his nephew, Joshua Bauer.

He is survived by his beloved children, Samantha Bauer Slim, husband Adrian Slim and grandson Kaden Slim and his son, Michael Raymond Yglesias Bauer. He is also survived by his mother, Berena H. Bauer of Baker his sister, Janelle Jan Bauer and her children Brandy Johnson, Chavis Bauer, and Wesley Little his brother, Alvin E. Bauer, wife Tammy and their son, Landon Bauer and his former students and football players in Crownpoint, N.M.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at First Baptist Church, Baker, Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 2:00 pm 9:00 pm with a memorial service at 6:00 pm. Reverend Don Perkins will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to help with funeral expenses.

May the peace, love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
