A resident of Denham Springs, and a retired bridge worker with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, he passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at Baton Rouge General Medical Center, Mid City. He was 70, a native of Kentwood, and a former longtime resident of Zachary. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 48pm, and on Friday, Feb. 21, from noon until religious services in the chapel at 2:00pm, conducted by Rev. Ricky Sinclair. Interment to follow in Azalea Rest Cemetery, Zachary. Survived by wife, Patsy Tarver Carter of Denham Springs three sons, Andy Carter and Bobby Carter of Denham Springs, and Jeffrey Carter and wife, Laurie of Prairieville sister, Irene C. Gill of Kentwood three brothers, Tony Carter of Brandon, MS, Wayne Carter of Walker, and Roger Carter of Kentwood and five grandchildren, Trent Caplang, Trista Carter, Nick Carter, Micayla Carter, and Brandon Comeaux. Preceded in death by son, Patrick Joe Carter brother, Shelly Joe Carter niece, Shelia Carter and his parents, Curtis L. and Clara Mae Carter. Pallbearers are Dewayne Ford, Josh Tarver, Leory Tarver, Hunter Tarver, Daniel Tarver, and Nick Tarver.
