Jeannette Lee

Jeannette Melanson Lee, age 85, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015, in Baton Rouge. A resident of Baker, she was born August 22, 1930, in Baton Rouge to Golden Joseph Melanson and Beatrice Earle Parker Melanson.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, James Reatie Lee; her parents and her stepfather, Charles Ole Spring; and her sister, Jacquelyn Melanson Allred.

She was a retired secretary, having worked at Esso for ten years and at Baker High School for 23 years. A member of First Baptist Church of Baker for over fifty years, Mrs. Lee cherished her church family. Mrs. Lee's greatest joy was her family, by whom she was deeply loved.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Susan Lee of Baker; her daughter and son-in-law, Celeste and Keldon Henley of Arkadelphia, AR; six grandchildren: Katie Wallis and husband Randy, Matthew Lee and wife Abby, Joshua Lee, and Annelise, Grayson, and Parker Henley; two great grandchildren, Elijah James Wallis and Elanor Jane Lee, and another expected in late spring; many special nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of treasured friends.

The funeral service will be at First Baptist Church of Baker on Monday, November 30, at 11:00am, and will be conducted by Rev. Jay Avance. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9:30. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be the grandsons, nephew, Steve Lee, and Byron Jackson.
