Jasper Pugh

A retired operator with Kaiser Aluminum with 40 years of service, and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson. He was 87, a US Navy Veteran of WWII, and a native of Jasper County, MS. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home Sunday, April 3, 2011 from 35pm, and at Trinity Methodist Protestant Church, 5825 Groom Road, Baker, LA 70714, on Monday, April 4, 2011 from 9am until religious services at 10am, conducted by Rev. Rick McAllister. Interment with military honors to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by six sons, Dean Pugh and wife Sharon of Portland, OR, Garry Pugh and wife Cynthia of Midland, MI, Daryl Pugh of Walker, Byron Pugh of Baton Rouge, Galen Pugh and wife Tammy of Orlando, FL, and Oren Pugh of Watson three sisters, Frances Price and husband Ventress of Rome, GA, Reva Anderson and husband Don of Rome, GA, and Patsy Gallman and husband Joseph of Atlanta, GA three brothers, Horace Pugh of Colorado, Chassel Pugh and wife Becky of Jackson, MS, and Calvin Pugh and wife Rita of Vicksburg, MS nine grandchildren, Jonathan Rutledge and wife Jennifer, James Rutledge and wife Martha, Elizabeth Pilling and husband Greg, Kathleen Rutledge, Amy Blinn and husband Christian, Brent Pugh, Jackson Pugh, Nathaniel Pugh, and Isaac Pugh and six great grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Bryan and Macy Rutledge, and Daniel and Andrew Pilling. Preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Day Pugh second wife, Marvine Brand Pugh and a grandson, Ethan Pugh. Pallbearers will be his six sons. Jasper was a charter member of Trinity Methodist Protestant Church. He took life as it came and made the most of it. He remained loyal to God, his country, his church, and his family. He left the world a better place than he found it, and he remains an inspiration to us all. We believe both his earthly father and his Heavenly Father will say to him, Well done.
