A resident of Baker and a native of Shreveport, he passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. He was 83, a retired engineer with Illinois Central Railroad with 42 years of service, and a US Army veteran. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 from 9am until religious services in the chapel at 11am, conducted by Rev. Jay Avance. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by wife, Evelyn Rester Williams daughter, Susan Williams son, Jim Williams and wife Tracy brother, Billy Williams and wife Janice brotherinlaw, Al Lee five grandchildren, Mindy F. Atkins and husband Ryan, Joel Williams, Sarah Williams, Ellie Williams and Arianna Williams and one great grandson, Jackson Atkins. Preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Williams a sister, Ruth Lee grandson, Blake Ford and his parents, James F. and Susan H. Williams. Pallbearers will be Eddie Stansbury, David Stansbury, Don Lee, Dale Lee, Steve McKay, and Ryan Atkins. Jimmy was an avid golfer and LSU and Saints fan. He was also a ham operator. His call sign was WA5BBR. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Baker, where he was a member.
