James Wells

James Rufus Wells, 93 years old, was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 21, 2024. He entered this world on July 24, 1931, born to Gertrude and Claude Wells, in Sorrento, LA. James honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the IBEW Local 995 for over 50 years.

James is survived by his loving sons, Jimmy Wells (De'ann), Ricky Wells (Julie); daughters, Kay Sanborn (Rusty) and Sue Granger (Richard); 4 grandchildren, Hunter Wells, Lindsey Polozola, Maureen Cottom, Garrison Sanborn (Tara); 6 great-grandchildren, Julianne Sanborn, Jameson Wells Sanborn, Jude Sanborn, Annabelle Cottom, Stella Cottom, and Jayden Cabrera; and a host of nieces and nephews.

James is preceded in death by his wife, Polly Wells; father, Claude Wells; mother, Gerturde Wells; granddaughter, Jenna Wells; 2 brothers, Norman Wells and C.O. Wells; 3 sisters, Ruby Nelson, Lena Breeden, and Dolly Shoemaker.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Keith Cox. The graveside service with military honors will follow at Azalea Rest Cemetery, in Zachary, Louisiana.
