James Soileau, 85 years old, beloved Husband, Father, Father-in-law, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Son, was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He entered this world on November 6, 1938, born to Bertha and Leon Soileau, in Washington, LA. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church since 1979. James retired from DOTD after 30 years of service. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their RV, together they visited 28 national parks.
James is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Loretta "Tootsie" Haynes Soileau; sons, Craig Soileau (Bridget), Bryan Soileau (Tania), Brad Soileau (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Trish, Missy (Danny), Timmy (Bridget), Mandy (Josh), Michelle (Rob), Steven (Kaleigh), Lauryn (Hayes), Liana (Devin); 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
James is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 29 years, Lois St. Cyr Soileau; great-granddaughter, Kylee; brother, J Y Soileau (Stella); and sister, Bune Leger (Avie "Blanco").
Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Soileau, Steven Soileau, Danny Bozeman, Devin Lucky, Hayes Harris, Rob Rome, and Josh Teekel. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Mullen, Glen Soileau, and C.J. Haynes.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 5657 Thomas Road, on Tuesday, July 02, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, officiated by Father Frank Bass. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Baker, Louisiana.
