James Richard, Sr.

James "Jim" Dudley Richard, Sr., 87 years old, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend was called to his eternal resting place on June 16, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He entered this world on May 2, 1931, in Opelousas, LA. James served his country in the United States Army and was an active member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He retired as a pipefitter from the Local Union 198.

James is survived by his children, Linda G. Richard, Ricky Richard and fiancé Joyce Sigmon, Joey Richard and companion Twila Prunty, Faye Kidwell and husband Larry, Elizabeth "Kootsie" Bauer and husband Rick, Christopher "Tony" Richard, and Nicholas "Nick" Richard and wife Monica Barnes, and Patsy Ball; grandchildren, Nannette Curry and fiancé James Wear, Kenny W. Martin and wife Erin, Brian Kidwell, Stacey Langley and fiancé Derrick Dupre, Bridget Kidwell and fiancé Chad Thibodaux, Christie Evans, Jennifer Kidwell and husband Landon LeBourgeois, Dustin Richard, Lindsey Richard, Tyran Richard, Ryan Richard, Tara Richard, Judella Richard, Brandon Bauer and fiancé Madeline Sherrod, and Christopher Bauer; his loyal dog, Rusty; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

James is preceded in death by his loving wife, LouVella Darbonne Richard; parents, Warner and Irma Richard, two children, John Keith and Johnathan Paul; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 5657 Thomas Road, Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father Frank Bass. The graveside service with Military Honors will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker, LA.
