James Morgan Hubbard, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on January 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 8, 1933 in Longview, Texas to Floyd and Ruby Hubbard. James was a graduate of Central High School and a U.S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife Geneva of 60 years; their children, Jamie (Hubbard) and David Lockhart, Jere (Hubbard) and Glen Naquin, Janet (Hubbard) and Kenny McReynolds, James Morgan (Jimmy) and Krista Hubbard; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and one expected any day.
He is also survived by his sisters, Winnie Grissom and Eleanor Henry, Wanda Smith and husband Mike. Preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ruby Hubbard; brother, Gerald Hubbard and great-granddaughter, Emily Naquin.
James was a faithful member of Comite Church of Christ and was known as a gracious, giving and caring man by all who knew him. One of his greatest role was being "Paw-Paw" to all of his grandchildren.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Castine and staff, Lane Regional Home Health and St. Josephs hospice for their care and compassion while helping us take care of our father.
Pallbearers will be James' grandsons, Jeremy Naquin, David Ryan Lockhart, Trevor Harding, Kenneth James McReynolds, Micah James Hubbard, Caleb Hubbard. Honorary Pallbearers will be son-in-laws, David Lockhart, Glen Naquin and Kenny McReynolds.
Arrangements were made by Baker Funeral Home (225) 775-1991. The visitation will be on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Zoar Baptist Church, 11848 Hooper Rd, Baton Rouge beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
