James "Bruce" Fontenot, 64 years old, was called to his eternal resting place peacefully on September 23, 2016. He entered this world on October 17, 1951 in Opelousas, LA, born to J.A Fontenot and Lou Lejeune. He was an avid bass fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed rolling down the highway on his Harley. Bruce taught himself to play the guitar and enjoyed music especially blues.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Tommie Sue Dixon Fontenot; daughter, Paige Borel and husband Phillip, of DeRidder, LA; granddaughter, Megan King and husband Chris; grandson, Ryan Borel; great grandson, Cooper L. King; sister, Sandra LaCaze and husband Willie; sister in-law, Christy Fontenot; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bruce is also survived by his step-mother, Jane Fontenot and step-father, Harrold Lejeune.
Bruce is preceded in death by his father, J.A. Fontenot; mother, Lula Mae Lejeune; and brother, Joseph "Tony" Fontenot.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Zoar Baptist Church, 11848 Hooper Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70818, on Sunday, September 25, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visiting will continue at Zoar Baptist Church on Monday, September 26, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. The graveside service and burial will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Reverend Dennis McAnally and Reverend Jeremy Fair will officiate the services.
