He did it his way. Born April 23, 1941 in Morris, Illinios, he died Friday, December 7, 2012. He was 71, a native of Baton Rouge, and a resident of Brownsfield since 1949. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 5 to 9PM, and on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 9AM until religious services in the chapel at 11AM, conducted by Rev. Huey Moak and Rev. Mike Morris. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by his brother and sisterinlaw, Willie and Patsy Parker nephew Lindsey Parker and niece Alisha Parker of Brownsfield sisterinlaw and brotherinlaw, Betty Ann and Jesse Eaves nephew Jim Eaves and wife Vickie niece Valarie Langley and fiance Jason Baker niece Lara Hutchinson and husband Brian the beloved 6pack, Sara Pierson, Seth Langley, Ashleigh Eaves, Gabrielle Eaves, Courtney Hutchinson, and Josh Hutchinson, all of Denham Springs and nephews, Jason Paul Baker, Junior. and Jon Baker, both of Denham Springs. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Jean Rushing Parker mother, Ruth Finch Parker Keefer father, Alton B. Jack Parker and motherinlaw, Ann Rushing. Pallbearers will be Lindsey Parker, Jim Eaves, Brian Hutchinson, Tom Goebel, Seth Langley, and Jason Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be J.D. Evans, Billy Bingham, and Scotty Eaves. Herman was a veteran of the United States Army. He was also a retired Louisiana State Trooper, and a member of the Louisiana State Troopers Assn. He was Past President and Chief of the Brownsfield Volunteer Fire Dept. and a member of the State Firemans Assn. He was a member and Past President of the Brownsfield Lions Club. He had been a self employed wheeler and dealer since retirement. A graduate of Baker High School, he attended Southeastern Louisiana College, was a staffer at the Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly, a former employee of the Dept. of Highways, and a member of Foster Road Baptist Church. He never met a stranger. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Brownsfield Lions Club, the Brownsfield Fire Department, or the American Diabetes Assn.
