Helen Flores died peacefully on Sunday September 23, 2012. She was 90 years old and a native of Baton Rouge. She was a graduate of Central High School, Baton Rouge Business College, and attended L.S.U. She worked in Washington ,D.C. during World War II, and was employed by Ethyl Corporation for 10 years. Services will be private. She is survived by a brother, Walter Scott Bliss of Denham Springs three nieces, Helen Spillman Taylor of Baton Rouge, Georgi Spillman Irwin of Springdale, AR., and Carmen Miller McNabb of Central and nephews Bill Bliss of French Settlement, Bobby Bliss of Keller,Texas, and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Samuel D. Flores her parents, Walter Scott Bliss Sr. and Aubyn Barrow Bliss brothers, Henry and William Bliss Sr and sisters, Sara Bliss Spillman, Marion Bliss Miller, Ida Bliss Weiland, Margaret Bliss, and Francis Bliss. Interment to follow in Blackwater Cemetery. She was a lifelong member of Blackwater United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Bill Bliss, Bobby Bliss, Todd Bliss, Jason Bliss, Jimmy Taylor and Clark Irwin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blackwater United Methodist Church, 10000 Blackwater Rd., Baker, La. 70714.
