Gwendolyn Kay McDaniel,
Born December 23,1957 in Waco, TX,
Died July 5, 2017 at Baton Rouge General Hospital

Gwen is survived by husband, Michael David McDaniel; mother, Fran Murray;
Her daughters, Debra Hornsby and Jenifer and Allen Lopa; her sons, Scott and Sarah McDaniel and Matthew and Becca McDaniel; her sister, Jacque and Paul Eyre; and seven grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert W. Murray and grandson, Justin Shoppa.

Gwen was a proud mother, wonderful daughter, loving sister and amazing grandmother and beloved wife to Mike for forty years. Mike attributes much of his success to her unwavering support of his career. Gwen also worked for a number of years as a Special Education Assistant at Slaughter Elementary School and for the past decade, she has worked alongside Mike in their McDaniel's Millennium Farm business, making home-made products for a local farmer's market. In the past few years she has also taken her passion for baked goods and canning and turned it into a local enterprise selling at businesses in the area. Gwen dearly loved her children and grandchildren, which were her passion, and enjoyed many friendships she developed over the years. Gwen was known for having a heart of gold and mowing the lawn like Mario Andretti. Gwen fought a heroic battle with leiomyosarcoma cancer, always with grace and concern for others. She will be missed by all who knew her.

There will be visitation on Sunday July 9th from 5 to 7p.m. and also on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, in Baker . A "Celebration of Life" service will be held for Gwen Monday morning July 10th at 10:00 a.m. at the Baker Funeral Home.
