Goldman Elle Joseph Richard, Sr.
A loving husband and father, Goldman was born on January 2, 1929 in Opelousas, LA to Saul Richard and Lillie Mae Vidrine of Opelousas, and passed away on Thursday, March 05, 2015 at Ochsner Medical Center, Baton Rouge. He was 86, a resident of Baker, and a retired painter.
Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Monday, March 9, from 4-8pm, and on Tuesday, March 10, from 8am until religious services in the chapel at 10am. Graveside services will be at 2pm on Tuesday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington, LA.
Goldman is survived by his wife, Helen Vidrine Richard; children, Michael Kenneth Richard and wife Cathy Watson Richard, Bill Richard, and Patti Richard Smith and husband Terry Smith; 11 grandchildren, Nicki Richard Dixon, C. Brian Richard III, Kelly Richard Briggs, Chad Richard, Kaylee Richard, Chase Richard, Eric Richard, Tyler Rudolph, Eric Smith, Jason Smith, and Melissa Smith; and 13 great grandchildren, Willie Briggs, Molly Briggs, Daisy Dixon, Dove Dixon, Addison Mckey, Alex Kate Loftstrom, Madison Holden, Kaitlyn Brown, Madison Brown, Evelyn Brown, Nicholas Brown, Jayden Smith, and Riley Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and six siblings, Gilbert Richard, Bernice Kerry, Willa Mae Kerry, Pooney Richard, Levi Richard, and Olivia Perry.
Pallbearers are Brian Richard, Tyler Rudolph, Chase Richard, Eric Richard, Terry Smith, and Eric Smith.
Goldman was a graduate of AIC, now Opelousas Catholic, and was a two year All State Football player. His team was the only state championship team in the history of the school.
He was a longtime member of St. Isidore Catholic Church. He lived for his family and fishing, and enjoyed working with his hands. There was nothing he couldn't do. He will be deeply missed.
