Geraldine Smith

Geraldine (Gerri) Morgan Smith passed from this earthly life on 06/18/2023 at the age of 90, to join her beloved husband, Charlie in heaven. She was a Christian, caring, selfless and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was born July 28, 1932, to James Murphy Morgan and Mabel Lambert Morgan. She was the last remaining of 8 children.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda P. Smith, a son, Charlie G. Smith Jr. (Sonja), 2 grandsons, Cody Smith (Brittany) and Chase Smith (Hope) and 1 great-granddaughter, Vivienne Smith, Special Cousins, Emma Dean Morgan McDaniel and Mary Morgan Alford (David), Clara (Al) King and sister-in-law's Sandra, Virgie and Jean, along with numerous nieces and nephews, her little Chihuahua, Tootsie and best friends, Wren, Evelyn and Debra Waller and Minnette Whittington.

She is preceded in death by her parents, loving and devoted husband of 69 years, Charlie G. Smith, an infant son, Randall Smith, her 5 brothers and their spouses, Tom L. (Irma Lee), J.T. (Freddie Mae), L.C. (Junior), Earl L. and Carl O. Morgan, 2 sisters, Minon Frazier and Evelyn Tate (Ernest)

Gerri was born in Kentwood, LA. and moved to Baton Rouge at the age of 18, where she met her

soulmate, Charlie and raised their family. Upon retirement, they moved to Gloster, MS. She was of Baptist faith and was always a devoted worker in Church, teaching Sunday School and Discipleship training to many ages, spanning over 69 years.

She loved her family, friends, flowers, and fishing. Her daughter would like to thank Brother Fred Day(CBC) and the staff of Deaconess Hospice for the care they provided at the end.

Pallbearers will be Philip Morgan, Harlon Alford, Craig Gauthier, Tod Morgan, Cody Smith, and Chase Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Funeral Service at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker, LA.
