A resident of Baker, he passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 2am at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. He was 85, and a native of Kentwood. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Marine Corp, having participated in action against the enemy at Tarawa Atoll in 1943, and Saipan in 1944, and was a Purple Heart recipient. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, Monday, December 27, 2010 from 9am until religious services in the chapel at 11am, conducted by Bishop Ruben Clark. Graveside services with military honors at 2pm Monday at Woodland Cemetery in Kentwood, LA. Survived by two daughters and sonsinlaw, Gerry Wayne Davis of Baker, and Janice Bobby Westbrook of Slaughter his first cousin, Katie Blades of Kentwood five grandchildren, Candy Mattick and husband Dan, Patrick Davis and wife Kelli, Jason Davis and wife Jamie, Kylie Davis, and Rachel Westbrook nine great grandchildren and two special cats, Tom and L.T. Preceded in death by his wife, Sally Needham, and his parents, Pat and Daisy Needham. He enjoyed fishing and cooking. Special thanks to the staff of The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice for such good care given. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice or Cat Haven.
