Genevieve "Jean" Galemore Walker

A resident of Baker, Jean passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 83; a native of Bessemer, Alabama. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and baker of all things - best known for her legendary English muffins. In addition, she was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Friday, March 27, from 5-8pm. Visiting at First Baptist Church of Baker, 3213 Groom Road, Baker, on Saturday, March 28, from 10am until religious services at 11am, conducted by Rev. Jay Avance. Inurnment will be at a later date at Port Hudson National Cemetery.
Jean is survived by her husband of 55 years, W. Doug Walker, Jr.; daughter, Terri Walker Blackburn and husband Jim; son, W. Douglas Walker, III and wife Linda; three grandchildren, Holly Walker Cooper and husband Clint; Justin Walker, and Tegan M. Blackburn; and a great-granddaughter, Rylen Walker.
She was preceded in death by seven siblings, and her parents, Belle and Joe Wheeler Galemore.
Jean was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Baker, and a member of the Choctaw Division of the Marine Corp League.
