Freida Herren Thompson, 74 years old, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, on November 1, 2017. She was born Freida Louise Herren on August 8, 1943, in Jackson, MS. She lived her formative years in Utica, MS and moved to Baker, LA in 1958. She was twice an all-state basketball player for Baker High School. Freida was a past member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and Baker 1st United Methodist Church and a current member of Jackson United Methodist Church. Freida was a member of the Norwood Ladies Club. She volunteered with the Jackson Assembly and her church's vacation bible school. Freida loved spending time with her family, particularly with her grandchildren, playing outdoor sports.
Freida is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Paul Tripp Thompson; daughter, Juliet E. and husband Allen Ray Hodgkins, III and their children, Cole Allen Hodgkins and Reid Joseph Hodgkins; and son, Christopher P. Thompson and his wife Victoria L. Thompson and their child, Caleb Paul Thompson.
Freida is preceded in death by her parents, Milton E. Herren, Sr. and Maggie Brown Herren; and her brother, Milton E. Herren, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Jackson United Methodist Church, 1727 Sycamore Street, Jackson, LA, on Monday, November 6, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. until the memorial service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Reverend Chris Curry.
