A resident of Central, he died Wednesday, February 2, 2011. He was 60, a native of Baker, owner of Bayou Building Service and proudly served in the Army National Guard as a medic. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home on Friday, February 4, 2011 from 59pm and on Saturday, February 5, from 9am until religious services in the chapel at 11am, conducted by the Rev. Ted Roeling. Interment will follow at Young Family Cemetery, Plains, LA. He is survived by a daughter, Kelli Rae Eckert of Orlando, FL a son, Jay August Eckert and wife Monika Pahwa Eckert of Austin, TX two sisters, Mary Lou Eckert of Baker and Suzi Eckert Gautreaux and husband Sheriff Sid Gautreaux III of ZacharyPlains a brother Eric Wilkins Eckert of Worthington, Ohio a grandchild, Avani Grace Eckert long time family friend Mona Michot special friend Michele Obrien and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Fred Eckert, Jr. and Mary Virginia Day Eckert maternal grandparents Dr. Eric W. Day, Sr. and Mary McKowen Mills Day and paternal grandparents, Fred A. Eckert, Sr. and Louise Eckert Burke. Pallbearers will be Dr. Eric Day III, Jimmy Germany, John Germany, Will Gautreaux, Ben Gautreaux, Logan Gautreaux, Mason Gautreaux, Butch Artieta, Robbie McGowan, and Don Jones. He was a graduate of Baker High School and the University of Southwest Louisiana, and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and University of Louisiana Lafayette golf team. Fred was a member of Baker Presbyterian Church, an avid golfer, and a huge LSU and Saints fan. Fred was loved by all who knew him
