Frankie Ramona Greer Whitehead, 86, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother was called to her eternal resting place on September 22, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She entered this world on October 6, 1930 born to Frank and May Greer in Covington, LA. Her life was spent loving the Lord, her family and her pets. Her life was a mission of caring for her family and loving them unconditionally. Her major contribution was her commitment to her husband's career serving as the wife of a military man through several wars and conflicts. Together they served at stations around the US and Europe. Her giving spirit moved her to volunteer and participate at her church, in Double Nickels, Inner Wheel, Threads of Love and periodically at the kitchen of St. Vincent DePaul.
Mona is survived by daughter, Deborah Ann Whitehead; two sons, Jim Whitehead and wife, Lisa and Dick Whitehead and wife, Lynn; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mona is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, MSGT Alvin R. Whitehead USAF; her parents and her brother, Richard Greer.
The family held a private service on October 7, 2017 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to give special thanks to the people and staff of St. Joseph's Hospice and The Carpenter House for their dedication and graciousness, their commitment to her cannot be overstated.
