Floyd William Lee, 85, of Zachary Louisiana was welcomed home to heaven on Monday, September 30, 2024.
He was born in Mount Hermon, Louisiana on July 1, 1939. He later moved to Baton Rouge where he met the love of his life, Barbara Gayle Herring Lee, who he now resides in heaven with.
In the early years of their marriage, he would go to school in the mornings and work in the afternoon. By the time he got home around midnight, Barbara was already asleep because she had work in the mornings. He would study until he couldn't keep his eyes open, sleeping no more than 4 hours a night, but persevered and went on to become a devoted father, mentor, and role model to his three surviving daughters; Laura Weed (Ken), Kradan Ostby (Kent), and Rebecca Cooper (Ram). He was a proud "papa" to his grandchildren; Joshua Weed (Megan), Jonathan Weed (Felicity), Kristiana Weed, Jordan Edholm (Matthew), Logan Ostby, Hudson Cooper, and Harrison Cooper, and to his great-grandchildren; Cadence, Luka, and Emery Weed, and Clive, Kristen, and Estella Edholm.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, his parents; Ayliss and Florence Lee, parents-in-law; Earl and Laura Herring, brothers; June, Charles, Stanley and John Lee, brother-in-law; Nolan Guidry, and sister in-laws; Connie Herring and Lorraine Lee.
He is survived by his sibling, Peggy Guidry, and sisters-in-laws; Earleen Mayeux (John), Brenda Roy (Barry), and brother-in-law, Truman Herring.
He was a hard-working, dedicated, and faithful man who lived a life of integrity and determination. He leaves behind lessons of strength, wisdom, and loyalty to all who had the honor of knowing him.
