A resident of Denham Springs, she was surrounded by her loved ones when she went into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 1:47 p.m. She was 83, and a native of Louisville, Kentucky. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife to her husband, Cecil Smith, a Purvis, Mississippi native, who preceded her in death in 1991. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Saturday, February, 18, 2012 from 10am until religious services in the chapel at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Dennis Allen. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. She is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Stephens and husband Larry of Denham Springs, Suzanne Henderson and husband Ricky of Clinton, and Denise Morgan and husband George of Baton Rouge seven grandchildren, David Stephens, Charmaine Scott, Shanna Marcotte, Jason Partin, Kristi Partin, Lindsay Morgan and Leslie Morgan and eight greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil and two sisters, Gladys Louise and Ramona Joy. She was a member of Amite Baptist Church. Her life was lived enjoying the outdoors, fishing and hunting with her husband. She was Nurse Nightingale to many family, friends and neighbors. Her family was her strength and she was her familys strength. Pallbearers are David Stephens, Jason Partin, Terry Marcotte, Christopher Scott, Stephen Avriett and Spencer Duet. Special thanks to Jaime, the Hospice Compassus nurse that took such loving care of Mom.
