Evalene Rester Williams
A resident of Baker, Evalene passed away peacefully on Monday, March 02, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 82, and a native of Dunn, LA.
Visiting at First Baptist Church of Baker, 3213 Groom Road, Baker, on Friday, March 6, from 9am until religious services 11am, conducted by Rev. Jay Avance. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Pallbearers will be Eddie Stansbury, David Stansbury, Don Lee, Dale Lee, Steve McKay, Brennan Toups, Dan Stansbury, and Thomas McKay.
Evalene is survived by a daughter, Susan Williams Lee and husband Stuart; son, Jim Williams and wife Tracy; five grandchildren, Mindy Ford Toups and husband Brennan, Joel Williams, Sarah Williams, Ellie Williams, and Arianna Williams; a great grandson, Jackson Atkins; five step-grandchildren, Christopher Ford, Amanda Ford Ellis, Katie Wallis, Matthew Lee, and Joshua Lee; and two step great-grandchildren, Elijah Wallis and Elanor Lee.
Evalene was preceded in death by her husband, James F. "Jimmy" Williams, Jr.; a grandson, Blake Ford; and seven siblings, Emanuel Ocon Rester, Ruth Eloise Harrell, Sadie Marie Demler, Helen Doris Stansbury, Marjorie Catherine McKay, Major Solon Rester, and William Asia Rester; and her parents, William Luther Rester and Emily Alma Branch Rester.
Evalene was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Baker. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the church.
Evalene was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a master baker and gardener, and especially loved to grow tomatoes. Her family fondly remembers her scrumptious chicken and dumplings and homemade cookies, and will miss her deeply.
