In Loving Memory of Eugene "Scotty" Cumpton

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eugene "Scotty" Cumpton, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend to many and respected member of the community. Scotty took his final breath on December 23, 2023, at the age of 78, at home in Baker, Louisiana.

Scotty was born on April 9, 1945, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to his parents, Horace and Margaret Cumpton. He spent his formative years in Alexandria, developing a strong sense of duty, integrity, and compassion. After completing his high school education, Scotty embarked on a career with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. Scotty was a hunter, fisherman and a Rodeo Team Roper.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Scotty found his greatest joy in the love and companionship of his dear wife, Faye Faulkner Cumpton. He is also survived by his son, David Cumpton (Gina); daughter, Karen Cumpton McKnight; step daughters, Margaret Faulkner and Keri Heil; grandchildren, Cara Cumpton, Kristan Rinehart, Taylor Heil, Kelsey Guidry, and Max Slezak; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by special friends, Bobby Babin, Terrell and Rhonda Lewis, and the Miles Wilkinson family.

Scotty is preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Margaret Hicks Cumpton; granddaughter, Emma Faith Cumpton; and sons in-law, Steve McKnight and Chris Heil.

Scotty's life will be remembered and celebrated during a Memorial Service at the Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, La, on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 1:00 pm. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 am.

Scotty has left an undeniable imprint on the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and selflessness will continue to inspire and guide us as we traverse life's journey.

May Eugene "Scotty" Cumpton find eternal peace with his Lord and Savior and may his spirit forever guide and protect those who carry his memory in their hearts.
