Edna Knippers Dykes Martin, 97 years old, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 24, 2018. She entered this world on April 27, 1921, born to Sarah and Benjamin Knippers, in Magnolia, MS. Edna was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church in Baton Rouge and frequently attended her home church, Bluff Springs Baptist Church in Magnolia, MS. She worked for Jewel Fabric and Woolco in retail and also worked as a seamstress and drove for Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Edna is survived by her sons, Jimmy Dale Dykes and wife Karen and Robert "Mike" Dykes and wife Sherri; 5 grandchildren, Robert "Kasey" Dykes, Robert "Nicolas" Dykes, Michael "Scott" Dykes and wife Amanda, Shelley Dykes Kuhlmeyer and Maryann "Nicole" Dykes; 4 great-grandchildren, Katherine Dykes, Michael Dykes, Addison Kuhlmeyer and Jared Kuhlmeyer; brothers, Willie Knippers and Bobby Knippers; sister, Sara Fortenberry and a host of nieces and nephews.
Edna is preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Knippers; mother, Sara Brooks Knippers; first husband, Robert Thomas Dykes and second husband Sam Martin; brothers, William Edgar Knippers and Bernell Knippers; sister, Ann Martin.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, La. on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The visitation will continue at Baker Funeral Home on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 12:00 PM officiated by Pastor Dale Crawford. The graveside service and burial will follow at Line Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Kentwood, La. at 2:30 PM.
