Dot Thornhill has been promoted to be with Jesus. She fought hard and won her battle on April 2, 2018, at the age of 88. She was born August 5, 1929 in Brownwood Texas, the second of four children.
Dot was the administrator of the family's towing service for years but later started baking the lightest, most delicious cakes and cake squares for many special occasions for clients all over Baton Rouge. She loved children and took the opportunity to pour herself into their lives. "Maw" is what the firefighters of District 6 Firehouse called her when it was on Corlett Drive. Other talents she had were sewing and repairing garments, and playing the piano by ear. There is no one like her.
Brian, her only son, his wife Karen and Pat Messer, her sister, will miss her wit and wisdom. Special thanks to Tina Roberts and her family for their unselfish and generous care of our Mom and Sister.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of life service on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Acacia Church at 10051 Siegen Lane in Baton Rouge. There will be no other memorials held.
