A resident of Baker and a native of Franklinton, he passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Baton Rouge General Medical Center Bluebonnet after a short battle with cancer. He was 82 and a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 59pm, and on Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 8am until religious services in the chapel at 10am, conducted by Rev. Rocky Bezet and Rev. Garland Mizell. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by three sons and daughtersinlaw, James M. Sr. Glenda Hill, Donald Mark and Claudia Westmoreland, and Barry and Karen Westmoreland three sisters, Mev Law, Paulette Beall, and Elaine Whaley a brother, Buell Slim Westmoreland six grandchildren, James Jr. and Donnie Hill, and Dustin, Brian, Heather and Carly Westmoreland and four greatgrandchildren, John and Joey Hill, and Abigail Ashley and Chloe Westmoreland. Preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Doris Vonceil Westmoreland parents, Albert Edison and Viola Magee Westmoreland and three brothers, Albert Peck, Hershel, and Devon Westmoreland. Pallbearers are Dustin and Brian Westmoreland, James Hill Jr, Dean Alexander, Scott Beall, and Robin Beall. Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Hill, Mike Mizell, and Buell Slim Westmoreland.
