Donald "Rod" Terry Mier, 82 years old, was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 31, 2021. He entered this world on May 1, 1938, born to Frank and Naomi Mier, in Rayne, LA. Rod honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He worked for Petroleum Helicopters in Lafayette, LA, Pennington Biomedical Research Center and Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church.
Rod is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Ann LeBlanc Mier; sons, Matthew James Mier (Connie) and Michael Lawrence Mier; grandchildren, Trilby Erwin (Carlton), Anthony Mier, Jakob Mier, and Kristen Risinger-Mills (Jacob); great-grandchildren; Kelton, Dillon, Ryan, Madison, Katie and Benji; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Rod is preceded in death by his father, Frank Mier; mother, Naomi Navarre Mier; brother, James Dale Mier; and sisters, Esther Sarver, Ruby Conque, Lula Perrodin, Annie Grundy, and Margie Murray.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 5657 Thomas Road, on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, from 9:00 AM until military honors at 10:50 AM. The Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Father Frank Bass. The graveside service will take place at Louisiana National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 1:00 PM, officiated by Deacon Tommy Benoit.
