Daniel John "D.J." Ferguson, Sr.
A resident of Pride, D.J. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, March 02, 2015, at Flannery Oaks Nursing Home. He was 81, a native of New Orleans, and a US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. D.J. made a career out of law enforcement, having served the Baker and Baton Rouge communities, and was formerly Chief of Police with the Baker Police Department.
Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Wednesday, March 4, from 4-8pm, and on Thursday, March 5, from 9am until religious services in the chapel at 11am. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker.
D.J. is survived by his four children, Tara Ferguson Thoms and husband Paul, Jana Ferguson Logan and husband Stewart, Daniel John Ferguson, Jr. and wife Laura, and Julie Ferguson Falgoust and husband Kelvin; five grandchildren, Quentin Thoms, Afton Thoms Cormier and husband Buddy, Dustin Felton and wife Shasta, Ryan Ferguson, and Jacqulyn Miller; eight great grandchildren, Emma and Tyler Felton, Talon and Tymber Thoms, Sopie Eaton, and Karli, Hallie, and Buddy Cormier, Jr.; and a sister, Maxine Kinchen.
D.J. was preceded in death by his wife, Amy Tillery Ferguson; sister, Betty Hostetter; a brother, Henry Ferguson; and his parents, Henry M. and Daisy Bordelon Ferguson.
Pallbearers: Daniel John Ferguson, Jr., Quentin Thoms, Dustin Felton, Ryan Ferguson, Stewart Logan, Paul Thoms, Kelvin Falgoust, and Buddy Cormier.
D.J. enjoyed oil painting, fishing, and watching T.V. He will be deeply missed.
