Dan Roy Stovall, 82 years old, a resident of Grosse Tete, Louisiana, native of Memphis, Tennessee, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 13, 2017 at his residence. He was born to Roy and Marguerite Stovall on January 20, 1935. Dan moved to Baton Rouge in 1954 to play baseball for LSU and he remained a loyal Tiger fan all his life. He enjoyed mentoring and coaching the youth at Lanier Baptist Church. He would expect perseverance and only the best from those he coached. Dan was a loving father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
Dan is survived by his daughter, Cherise Marie Stovall; son, John Kirby; 7 grandchildren, Lauren Stovall, Lindsey Stovall, Hannah Boudreaux, Daniel Stovall, Ryan Stovall, Amber Kirby, and Michelle Kirby; and 3 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Liam, and Lyla Boudreaux.
Dan is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lee Frazier Stovall; son, Daniel Ray Stovall; grandson, Leon Joseph Boudreaux, Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Betty-Marie Haynes.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at First Baptist Church of Grosse Tete, 18285 LA-77, Grosse Tete, LA 70740, on Thursday, October 19, 2017, from 5:30 p.m. until the memorial gathering at 7:30 p.m.
