Curry "Catfish" Don Smith, born in McComb MS, a resident of Baker, LA passed away October 21, 2016 at 1:20 p.m. at the age of 76, after several battles with cancer.
Catfish was a graduate of Istrouma High School where he played football and ran track. He attended LSU and was a member of the Baton Rouge Jaycees from 1970-1985, volunteering with The Greater Baton Rouge State Fair until his death. Catfish was a retired supervisor from Onyx Industrial. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
Catfish is lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Peggy H. Smith; his two sons, Curry "Donnie" Don Smith, Jr. and wife Lynn, Jeffery Paul Smith and wife Connie; his daughter, Patricia Smith Hall and husband Gerald W. Hall Jr. His four grandchildren, Courtney Elizabeth Smith, Kyle Mathew Hall, Christen Paige Smith and Kadi Marie Hall; his sibling, Gerald A. Smith; his first cousin who was more like a sister, Delores Barbati; and many more family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold H. Smith; and mother, Maurine E. Smith.
Pallbearers are Chris Englade, Joseph Gene David, III, Brian Hall, Gerald Hall, Jr., Gerald Hall, Sr., Jimmy Roy, Mitchell Dale Smith and Jake Still.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Rd., Baker, LA, on Tuesday October 25, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home. Deacon Shelley Joseph will officiate the service.
