A resident of Baton Rouge and a retired supervisor with Exxon Refinery with 26 years of service, he passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 22, 2011. He was 69 and a native of Livonia. Visiting at Brownfields Baptist Church, 11998 Plank Road, Baton Rouge, on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 59pm, and on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 9am until religious services at 11am, conducted by Rev. Steve Bridges. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by his devoted wife of 50 years who never left his side, Earlene Hale Austin of Baton Rouge a daughter and soninlaw, Kimberly and Freddie Masters of St. Amant two sons and daughtersinlaw, Gregory and Rebecca Austin of Central, and Jeremy and Jeri Austin of Prairieville a sister, Marie Decker of Baker three brothers, Richard Ward of Maringouin, Larry Ward of Baker, and Charles Ward of Baton Rouge and eight grandsons, Fred, Chris, and Drew Masters, and Hunter, Cole, Seth, Grant, and Calhoun C.C. Austin. He was preceded in death and was welcomed into his Heavenly Home by his parents, Felix Doc and Nelia Austin two sisters, Norma Jordan and Mae Sickles and a brother, Bennett Ward. Pallbearers are Freddie, Fred, Chris, and Drew Masters, Doug Roshto, and Hunter, Cole, Seth, Grant, and Calhoun C.C. Austin. Bubba was a graduate of Livonia High School. He received a full athletic scholarship to a smaller college, but he turned it down to attend his beloved LSU. He was an avid hunter and president of McNeely Hunting Club. He was a member of Exxon Annuity Club. With a voice like Nat King Cole, he will be missed by his church family at Brownfields Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and school board member. He will be a beautiful addition to Heavens choir.
