LAVIGNE, Carlo Joseph

A retired warehouse supervisor with the EBR City Parish, and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 8:48pm in Baton Rouge. He was 87, a native of Independence, and a US Army veteran of WWII. He served in four battle campaigns North Africa, Sicily, France and Germany, and was a Bronze Star recipient. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 59pm, with Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30pm. Visiting resumes at St. Gerard Majella Catholich Church, 5354 Plank Road, Baton Rouge, on Friday, June 25, 2010 from 8:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am, celebrated by the Rev. Sam Maranto. Entombment to follow in Hillcrest Mausoleum. He is survived by three daughters, Catherine Lavigne Loupe, Fannie Lavigne Purgatorio husband Bert, and Carla Lavigne Brignac husband Todd two sons, Raymond Joseph Lavigne wife Lawanna, and Richard Blaise Lavigne 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Mary Campo Lavigne soninlaw, Randall Joseph Randy Loupe parents, Catherine Vitrano Blaise Joseph Lavigne four sisters, Lena Donaugh, Victoria Navarro, Rose Guzzardo, Mary Schittone and three brothers, Frank, Joe, Salvadore Lavigne. Pallbearers will be Gabriel Joseph Lavigne, Micah Daniel Lavigne, Kyle Daniel Purgatorio, Daniel Todd Brignac, Scott David Keller, and Matthew Chase Lavigne. Honorary pallbearers are Jared Philip Purgatorio, Nathan Joseph Brignac, and Mason Joseph Walton. He attended Independence High School, where he was State Champion of Boxing, and Southeastern Louisiana College. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3331, DFW, DAV Past Post Commander, Al Hambra. His proudest moments were singing and playing his guitar for family and friends. He was an avid LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints fan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus, 8280 YMCA Plaza Dr, Building 3, Suite B, Baton Rouge, LA 70810.
