Bobbie Rushing

Bobbie Mercier Rushing exchanged this earthly life for eternal life with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 22, 2022. She was 92, known to many in Baton Rouge and Central as "The Jelly Lady," retired from Louisiana National Bank with 34 years of service. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, of Central. Bobbie was known for homemade jellies and Christmas candies, a generous spirit, and serving the community through the Immanuel Baptist Church Banquet Table.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker on Friday, August 26, 2022, from 10:00 AM until religious services at 12:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Andy Pierce. The interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Groom Road, Baker.

Bobbie is survived by her children, Daryl (Debra) of Watson, Sharyl of Baton Rouge, Wayne (Nancy) of Plantersville, TX, Johnny (Donna) of New Market, TN, and Jimmy (Ann) of Kodak, TN; grandchildren, Danielle, Michael Wayne, Jill, Christy, Wendy, Daniel Joseph "D.J.", Rhonda; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Eugene Rushing; parents, Harvey and May (`nee Greer) Mercier; brothers, H.Y., Luther, and George "Danky" Mercier; daughters, Gay and Cynthia Rushing; and granddaughter, Kathy Rushing.

The family would like to thank Dr. Keith Holmes, of Ochsner Central; best friend, Martha James; personal assistants, Cynthia, Bonnie, Ethel, Shalonda, Cindy, and Tonia; as well as the staff at La Plantation Assisted Living for compassionate care and friendship.
