Betty Stewart

Betty Lu Stewart, 93 years old, was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She entered this world on September 1, 1930, born to Floye and Robert Coston, in Camden, AR. She was a member of Baker First Baptist for many years. Betty Lu's passion for education led her to obtain a Master's Degree plus 30 from LSU, which laid the foundation for her remarkable career as a teacher for over 30 years. With unwavering devotion and a kind heart, she touched the lives of countless students, imparting knowledge and instilling values that will forever resonate within them.

Betty Lu is survived by her son, James "Cliff" Stewart, III (Tina); daughter, Melanie Stewart Rogman (Martin); 4 grandchildren, Vanessa, Amber, Lauren, and Weslee; 6 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Betty Lu is preceded in death by her husband, James Clifton "J.C." Stewart; father, Robert M. Coston; mother, Floye Furr Coston; and sister, Peggy Jackson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Martin Rogman, Wesley Rogman, Hal Adkins, Conrad Adkins, Kearney Crochet, and Baker Boyd.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker. LA, on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 12:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Corey Olivier. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Baker, Louisiana.

Betty Lu Stewart's remarkable spirit, passion, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and students will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a profound legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
