Bessie Mae Zumbro Albritton
A resident of Baker, Bessie passed away on Friday, November 07, 2014 at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. She was 97, and a native of Bude, MS.
Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 from 58pm, and on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 10am until religious services in the chapel at 11am, conducted by Dale Hutto, Jr. Entombment to follow in Hillcrest Mausoleum.
Bessie is survived by a son and daughterinlaw, Karl and Betty Albritton of Central two grandchildren, Jennifer Hutto and husband Dale, and Joshua Albritton and wife Ashley and four great grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachel, Regan, and Ruth Hutto.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Albert Albritton two sisters, Bertie Cotten and Ruby Matthews two brothers, Willie Zumbro and Bishop Hemphill and her parents, Daniel C. and Molly Priest Zumbro.
Bessie was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Baker. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Eastern Star, and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 4224 in Baker. She volunteered at the Baker Council on Aging, where she and Albert delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.
Bessie was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and growing muscadines. Bessie was a true treasure to her family, and she will be greatly missed.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Grace Nursing and Rehab, where Bessie was a resident for the last five years and to the staff at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice.
