Barbara Moran

Barbara Allen Brown Moran, 83, a resident of Clinton, passed away on November 16, 2021. Barbara was born on December 6, 1937, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Edwin Allen Brown and Elma Lucille Albarez Brown. She is a graduate of Istrouma High School, Baton Rouge, Class of 1956. She married Roy Louis Moran on August 22, 1955. Barbara was the supportive wife, the helpmate to Roy. His interests and endeavors became hers. Together, they served God in many capacities. As Roy served as Church Music Director at many area churches, Barbara was always right there with him, working together in ministry. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with all her heart. Barbara served as the secretary of Pride High School for five years, extending herself to become "Mom" to her children's friends, as well. Roy's occupation allowed him to travel extensively. Beside him, she traveled and saw the world. Side-by-side, they finished their working years as house-parents to troubled boys at the Methodist Children's Home Boys' Ranch.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Roy Louis Moran; son, Roy (Rip) Allen and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Kent Moran of Leander, Texas; daughter, Karen (Kay) Moran Breeden and son-in-law, David (Doe) Breeden of Pride, Louisiana; daughter, Kim (Winky) Moran VanAckeren and son-in-law, Donald (Donnie) VanAckeren of Friendswood, Texas; and daughter, Laurie Moran Drinkle and fiancé, Dave Shillcox of Green River, Wyoming; sister, Sue Brown Harding; sister, Judy Brown DuBos, and brother-in-law, Robert DuBos; nine grandchildren, Jeremiah David Breeden (Stephanie), James Robert Drinkle, Rachel Moran Brewton (Jeff), Michael Allen Drinkle (Mandy), Nicole Moran Higginbotham (Aubrey), Sara Breeden Gomez (Marlon), Jennifer VanAckeren Barmore (Blake), Allison Breeden Chaisson (Lenny), Jordan VanAckeren; "adopted" grandchild, BJ Baxley; and also, eighteen great grandchildren. In the same manner as family, she touched the lives of many young boys that have considered her a "true" parent or grandparent while serving as a house parent at the Children's Home .

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Elma Brown; sister, Gayle Brown Smith and brother-in-law, Jerry Smith; and brother-in-law, Ronald Harding.

Visiting hours will take place at Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Pride, Louisiana, on Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 9:30 am until services at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow at Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
