Barbara Lee

Barbara Gayle Herring Lee, 82, of Zachary Louisiana was welcomed home to heaven on Sunday, May 26, 2024 after an eight year long battle with dementia.

She was born in Ida, Louisiana on January 29, 1942 and moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1955 where she met the love of her life and surviving spouse, Floyd William Lee.

Their beautiful love story began 64 years ago and was filled with countless joyful memories and commitment to each other. In the early years of their marriage, Barbara worked tirelessly to help support Floyd through college and went on to become a devoted mother of her three surviving daughters, Laura Weed (Ken), Kradan Ostby (Kent), and Rebecca Cooper (Ram), a doting grandmother of Joshua Weed (Megan), Jonathan Weed (Felicity), Kristiana Weed, Jordan Edholm (Matthew), Logan Ostby, Hudson Cooper, and Harrison Cooper. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Cadence, Luka, and Emery Weed, and Clive, Kristen and Estella Edholm.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Laura Herring, her in-laws Florence and Ayliss Lee, brother-in-laws, Ayliss Lee Jr., Charles Lee, John Lee, and Nolan Guidry, and sister in-laws, Connie Herring and Lorraine Lee. She is survived by her siblings, Earleen Mayeux (John), Brenda Roy (Barry) and Truman Herring and sister-in-law Peggy Guidry.

She lived a life of love, laughter and resilience throughout good times and sorrow. She exemplified grace and beauty and was a deeply caring and generous wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She leaves behind lessons of strength, wisdom, and unwavering faith as her legacy for all who had the honor of knowing her.

Services will be held at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Friday, May 31 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Cemetery Services will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Baker, LA.
